Grab your goggles and get ready! The Katherine Aquatic Centre, operated by the Y Northern Territory, re-opens this November.

The Y Northern Territory is thrilled to have been awarded the management contract for the newly upgraded Katherine Aquatic Centre.

CEO Emma Bunting said this is fantastic news for the Y, for all of our amazing aquatics staff, and for our community.

“The Y Northern Territory is excited to partner with the Katherine Town Council to manage the Aquatic Centre and to continue supporting Territorians to lead active and healthy lives,” she said.

“The Katherine Aquatic Centre is a vital community asset that provides people of all ages and backgrounds opportunities to be healthy, active and connected to their community,” CEO Emma Bunting said.

The new and improved facility will feature improved pools, shaded areas, a Splash Play Park, and spaces designed for lessons, training and community events.

The Y will offer expanded programs at the Katherine Aquatic Centre, including health and wellbeing initiatives, swimming and water safety activities, events such as school holiday programs and community celebrations.

We are committed to working closely with schools, sporting clubs and community groups to ensure equitable access and programs that meet Katherine’s needs.
