Remote Pools Project

Each year, our Remote Pools Project recruits a select number of experienced swim teachers to volunteer in one of the remote Aboriginal communities we work alongside. Over a four-week placement in Term 1 or Term 4, you will teach lifelong swimming and water safety skills. You’ll have the opportunity to teach groups ranging from schools, child and family centres, women’s services, aged care services and more. Recruitment normally opens late May of each year. Want to mentor the Northern Territory’s future leaders?

The Y NT’s Youth Parliament is run by young people, for young people.

Youth Parliament is designed and delivered by an amazing group of volunteers aged 18 and over. The Taskforce Volunteers (Taskies) also mentor the young people participating in the program, supporting them to write their Youth Bills, and cheering them on as they debate in Parliament House.

As a Taskie you will gain experience in program development, facilitation and mentoring, as well as all of the valuable leadership and advocacy skills you will gain from walking alongside our Youth Parliamentarians. Having experience and knowledge in parliamentary processes is helpful, though not compulsory. As long as you have a passion for supporting young people to realise their true potential and amplify their important voices, this is the volunteering opportunity for you.
