What we do
Youth and Community
At the Y, we believe in the power of inspired young people.
We know that all young people have the power to make a lasting, positive impact on society, and we’re committed to walking alongside them.
Through our work with young people, we create safe spaces for young people to be themselves. We facilitate safe spaces and drop-in centres, mentoring and targeted support, youth empowerment activities and alternative education programs.
We deliver a range of youth and community services across the Territory.
Our Youth services include:
- the Y UpTop Palmerston Youth Space (Goyder Square)
- Palmerston Youth Centre (Moulden)
- Katherine Youth Space (at Henry Scott Recreation Centre)
- the Northern Territory Youth Parliament.
Our community services include the Y Accommodation in Darwin – affordable and safe accommodation for adults, and the Remote Pools Project.
Northern Territory Youth Parliament
Youth Parliament is a non-partisan advocacy and leadership program run by young people, for young people.
Youth Parliament is the Y’s Flagship Youth Program, delivered across Australia, ever since the first Youth Parliament in Brisbane in 1963.
The program supports young people to grow their confidence, build connections with other young people, increase their leadership and teamwork capabilities, and increase their knowledge and future participation in civic engagement and democracy.
Applications for the 2025 Youth Parliament program are opening soon! To be the first to hear about applications, or to discuss how you can support and/or sponsor the program, please contact Carlee Heise (Carlee.Heise@ynt.org.au)
